Bangladesh is a free and small country. She stands on the Bay of Bengal in Asia. Our bordering countries include Myanmar, Nepal, Srilanka and India. She came into being in 1971. Her land area is 1,47,570 square kilometres, and almost 160 million people dwell here.

The Padma, the Meghna and the Jamuna are the primary rivers. Her earth is exceedingly soft and fertile. Rice, jute and tea are our primary crops. There are six seasons here. Cox’s Bazar is the longest sea-beach in the world and the Sundarbans are the largest mangrove forest in the world. Kazi Nazrul Islam is our National Poet. Her climate is neither hot nor chilly. Her culture is also quite rich. The Muslims, the Hindus, The Christians and the Buddhists live here together in harmony. She is also a land of birds and flowers.
